About

I am a native Californian and have lived in San Diego County since 1977. I am married to Cheryl, who is a native San Diegan. We moved to Oceanside in 1988, located in District 2, and have no plans to go anywhere else. On July 17, 2022, Cheryl and I celebrated our 40th anniversary. We raised our four children here in Oceanside, with all of them graduating from El Camino High School. To date we have eleven marvelous grandchildren.

On July 1, 1977 I began my professional career as a firefighter working for the Rincon del Diablo Fire District in Escondido.  In 1980 I joined the Orange County Fire Department eventually transitioning to the Orange County Fire Authority from which I would retire as a chief officer in 2013. In 2014 I went to work for the Oceanside Fire Department as a part-time Fire Inspector.  In 2016 I competed for and was selected to be the City Fire Chief.  I would end my professional career with 45 years of service retiring on July 29, 2022.

In the midst of my fire service career, I enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves as a Corpsman. Assigned to the 4th Force Service Support Group, Medical Logistic Company.  In 1991, I was called to active duty service in support of Operation Desert Storm.  Upon my honorable discharge from active duty, I returned to my full-time fire department position.  Having earned the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class, I ended my reserve military service after eight years.

Cheryl and I have maintained a long-standing involvement with our community.  Cheryl worked in various capacities with the Oceanside Unified School District for 19 years.  We served on the ECHS Athletic Booster Club during our children’s high school years. We are members of the Oceanside Museum of Art and the Oceanside Historical Society, and the Oceanside Charitable Foundation. We support the Oceanside Boys & Girls Club, where I serve on the Programs and Personnel Committee. I am also a member of American Legion Post 760.

In November of 2022, I was elected to serve as the District 2 Councilmember.  Being selected by my neighbors to represent their interests is a great honor.  I will do my best to protect, enhance, and serve in a way that will make a difference for our residents and visitors.  Keeping Oceanside safe, growing, and true to its values is my commitment.

Thank you for checking out my web page.  Please let me know what I can do to better serve your needs.

Respectfully,

Councilmember Rick Robinson
